Happy Friday everyone!
Welcome to another Moonshot Alert.
These Alerts are dedicated to uncovering 10X opportunities in business, lifestyle design, and investing.
Today, we’re going to talk about Panama - which has recently become a highly time-sensitive opportunity.
Panama is one of the best second residency options in the world.
Taxes are low, the country is ripe with opportunity as a hub for business in Latin America, the lifestyle is fantastic - and for the last decade, the process of obtaining and maintaining residency was incredibly easy and came with enormous benefits.
The opportunity is so good, in fact, that I went through the process of obtaining permanent residency there myself in 2015.
But as demand comes to meet supply, the opportunity is closing down.
On August 19th, the Panamanian government is changing the rules to make it much harder to obtain residency in the country.
Getting a second residency in Panama today, however, makes more sense than ever.
So if you want to get in on one of the best residency options in the world before the rules change, the time to act is now - and this Alert will show you.
Let’s dive right in.
📈 Panama is one of the best backup options in the world.
For the next 2 months, it is also the cheapest and easiest 💰
But it wasn’t always like this.
Not that long ago, Panama was still widely underdeveloped - just like Singapore was in the 60s.
But in 2012, to attract qualified labor and capital, Panama introduced the Friendly Nations Visa Program.
It granted citizens of 50 countries - from the US, Canada, UK, Australia, most of Europe, Israel, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, South Africa, and some Latin American countries - a fast track to permanent residency in Panama.
In exchange, these new permanent residents could benefit from:
territorial taxation - meaning only income earned in Panama itself was taxed… all overseas and online income was totally tax-free
an economy growing at 6% annually
access to a highly developed financial sector and the hub of business of Latin Ameria
a passport after 5 years of residency in the country
incredible lifestyle opportunities both by the sea and in the mountains
… all with the simple requirement of being in Panama a minimum of one day every two years.
It’s no wonder I took advantage of the opportunity - along with so many other international investors and entrepreneurs.
If anything ever happened to my home country, or if I ever just wanted a change of air, lifestyle, or opportunities I could simply head to Panama and be treated with open arms like a local.
To me, Panama is both the ultimate backup plan - a place to go if trouble hits home - AND a place to uncover incredible opportunities.
English is widely spoken. Panama City feels a lot like Miami (just a lot cheaper). The US dollar is widely used, and medical services in the country are excellent.
On top of that, retirees qualify for a long list of discounts on airfares, restaurants, and events.
To me, it’s clear that getting a second residency in Panama is a no-brainer for entrepreneurs, digital nomads, and retirees who want a fully diversified, bullet-proof international lifestyle… but only before the rules change.
Luckily, for the next two months, the requirements are still incredibly easy to meet.
But after August 19th, you’ll be required to either:
Get a job with a Panamanian company that sponsors your work visa and pays you a salary (along with all associated taxes) or
Purchase real estate in Panama worth at least $200,000
On top of that, under the new rules, you will first need to obtain temporary residency for two years, and only then apply for permanent residency.
To qualify, you will need to have maintained your job or real estate for these two years.
However, if you act before August 19th, you will still be grandfathered in through the previous, much more generous rules.
This alert will show you how.
So if you're interested in the opportunity to live, bank, travel, do business and invest overseas… AND the ability to have another (tax-free) place to call home with minimum requirements… then Panama is for you.
The best part is that - if you act now - you will only have to show up in person once every 2 years to maintain your residency.
