2 months later, the Wright Brothers made their first successful flight.
At the time, they faced enormous resistance from their peers and the media.
“Planes can crash”
“Flight is for the rich”
“Flight is impossible”
“We have more pressing problems to deal with here on Earth than flight”….
If these sound familiar, it’s because they are.
These are the exact same arguments that are made against space exploration today.
“These greedy billionaires wasting resources on useless ego-trips to space.”
Of course, I don’t have to tell you how valuable flight has become. 4.5 billion passengers flew in airplanes in 2018.
Space exploration will have an even greater impact.
It will:
bring cheap internet connectivity to the 3 billion people that currently lack internet access through the deployment of satellites
